MCEA Officer Elections — 2026

The following positions are up for election this year, with new two-year terms beginning January 1, 2027 through December 31, 2028:

  • District Director — Districts 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, and 13
  • Vice President
  • Secretary

Note: The October Board meeting has been moved this year to coincide with our Annual Membership Meeting. It will now be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2026 at 5:30 PM, in the meeting room at the City of Modesto Bus Maintenance Facility, 1609 8th St, Modesto, CA 95354. Food will be provided — see our Annual Meeting post for more details.

Interested in running? Nominations are open now through the October 21st, 2026, Board meeting — reach out anytime between now and then through the Contact – Modesto City Employees Association website, or you can also be nominated (or nominate yourself) from the floor at the October 21st, 2026, meeting itself.

Eligibility:

  • Must be an active member in good standing, on full-time employment status with the City, and a member of the bargaining unit.
  • Director candidates need endorsement from 5 members of their District.
  • Vice President candidates must have served at least 2 years as a Director or Job Steward (per Bylaws Article 9). Secretary has no such prerequisite.

If no one comes forward to run against a sitting Director or Officer, that incumbent wins by default and no election is held for that seat. If a position is vacant at the time of the election, it remains vacant until an interested member comes forward — it can be filled at any time once someone steps up.

If a seat is contested, voting opens online immediately after the October meeting and remains open until the November meeting, when votes are counted and results announced.
